ArborReserve

A steel watch with a green dial floats on a dark backdrop. As you scroll it comes apart along one line into its crystal, bezel, hands, dial, movement, case and caseback, then goes back together.

Arbor Field 40 · Automatic · £2,150

Seven parts,nothing hidden.

A 40 mm steel case, a sunburst green dial and an automatic movement with 72 hours of reserve. Scroll, and it comes apart.

  1. 01

    Crystal 2.0 mm sapphire

Flat sapphire, anti-reflective on the inside only, so the outside never scuffs to a haze.

  2. 02

    Bezel Polished steel

A thin ring, 1.2 mm at its edge, so the dial reads as large as the case allows.

  3. 03

    Hands Hand-polished

Sword hands cut from steel, hours and minutes only. No seconds hand, no date.

  4. 04

    Dial Green sunburst

Brass, brushed out from the centre and lacquered green, with applied steel indices.

  5. 05

    Movement 72-hour reserve

Calibre A1: automatic, 4 Hz, 25 jewels, with a gold-plated rotor you can watch through the back.

  6. 06

    Case 40 × 11.4 mm

316L steel, brushed on the flanks and polished on the bevels. 47 mm lug to lug.

  7. 07

    Caseback Sapphire window

Screwed down to 100 m, with a window onto the movement and the name engraved round it.

The bench

One watchmakersees it through.
